Song Translations from Assyrian-Aramaic into English!
Suraye Educational Collective inaugurated a collaboration with the Assyrian Lyrics website in mid-2024 to translate the website's library of Assyrian songs into English. The project works to provide translations to many of the songs present on the website that do not already have translations, though other songs that were not present from the beginning have also been added as well. The project is ongoing as of September 2026.
Collaborating with the Assyrian Lyrics website is an exciting endeavor to bridge the language gap for Assyrian music enthusiasts and Assyrians worldwide. By working together, we can ensure that the original artistic intent and cultural context of each unique song are preserved. This fosters a deeper appreciation for Assyrian musical heritage, promotes cross-cultural understanding, and substantially preserves Assyrian-Aramaic into the future.
Frequent updates to the project are posted on SEC's and AL's social media platforms, namely Instagram. The Assyrian Lyrics Translation Project is only working to translate songs collected from the website up to a certain time (2024-2025). If you observe errors in spelling, translation, or song listings, please contact SEC or Assyrian Lyrics to notify us so that they may be fixed.
